Obituary: The American Dream

Dream, The American, of The United States of America, died November 8th, 2016 in the hearts and minds of people everywhere at age 240 following a long and hard-fought battle with entrenched hatred and discrimination. Born July 4, 1776 in the spirits of the hopeful, it was the child of generations of people who hoped for a better life. It is survived by its dear friends The Last Vestiges Of Human Kindness and A Refusal To Lay Down And Die. Dream is predeceased by its relatives Human Decency and Common Sense. Its career began with those in America who desired something of their own, then spread to those outside America who wanted the same. In the 20th century, it grew massively in popularity with those who were systematically oppressed by an unrepresentative establishment, and achieved critical acclaim for the leaps in accessibility it made in the 1960s, the 1990s and the 2000s. It was a beloved member of the global community, respected in its field, and a hopeful force for many. Private services are currently being held.
