Ode to the Commons

Nestled softly in your arms

When late night wanderings

brought me close,

BLTs and meatball parms,

Sandwiches cheap, $5.99 at most.

The one to count on when parties grow dull,

I see life’s truths buried in your eyes.

When boredom in Tisch puts me in a lull

2 a.m. chicken fingers and fries.

The kosher deli with its pickles dill

Will never be big enough to match

The hole in my heart that you used to fill

With quesadillas and spinach wraps.

Oh the sorrow! Oh the shame!

Campus not the same with no food after 10.

Finally the end of the waiting game

Renovations have brought you into my heart again.
